Program details

The Program is composed of three modules, and each module allows you to obtain ECTS (Official European Academic Credits).

 

 

1 – Career Orientation: matching passions with labor trends (1 ECTS, level 5 of the MQF and the EQF Framework for Life Long Learning):  This Module is specially designed to provide students with a wide overview on the labour trends, existing innovative learning approaches and mindset support that help them to respond to a critical question after finishing High School or University:” What’s next in my life?”.

  • Total Supervised Placement  and Practice Hours:  5h
  • Total Self Study Hours: 10h 
  •  Total Assessment Hours: 5h

Delivery: This module can be delivered 100% online or 100% face to face

 

Learning Outcomes:

Competences:

  • Ability to recognize professional development needs and how to tackle that;
  • increased capacity to self-assess their passions and linking them with job opportunities;
  • ethic in the work place with an international perspective.

Knowledge: 

  • Principles of self-assessment

  • The student will also gain job-seeking skills and will be aware of his/her development needs and opportunities for further education

Assessment:

This module of study will be assesed by means of class participation and preformances of the students during their lectures. Percentage marks will be graded according to the assessment policy of GY Academy:

  • Grade 1 [85% or over]
  • Grade 2 [60 to 84%]
  • Grade 3 [45 to 64%]
  • Fail [0 to 44%]

In the case of a fail, students are offered the opportunity to be re-assesed by givin them an assignement.

Qualification:

At the end of the module, the student will receive the following qualification:

Award in Career Orientation: Matching Passions with labour trends (1 ECTS)

 

2 – Entrepreneurship and Leadership (2 ECTS,  level 5 of the MQF and the  EQF Framework for Life Long Learning):  During this module, the students will be asked to come up with ideas for an event, a social or business initiative, a start-up idea, and have it planned, marketed, sold and executed as a team. In order to realize their objective, the teams will have at their disposal a certain budget (included in the registration fee) that they will have to manage in order to realize their events/projects. You will manage your own holiday transforming it in a project to be developed with an international team.

Delivery of the module: face to face 100%

 

Learning Outcomes:

Competences

  • Ability to work in a team towards in an international environment a common goal and to accept guidance and constructive critic
  • Build third party  partnership and cooperation with people with different backgrounds;
  • Master effective team communication technics

Knowledge:

  • Initial international and external relations and social media technics;
  • Key aspects of the entrepreneurial mind set and resource demands of the entrepreneurial process;
  • Most important digital tools for start-up and project management (including for agile working)

Skills:

  • Apply  leadership in multicultural and international environment;
  • Evaluate the challenges of developing a business idea or project ideas;
  • Develop an informed plan for startup ideas and processes;
 
Assessment

The evaluation will be based on the following criterias:

a) the students general actitude towards the learning, the progress made in increasing problem solving actictude, in interacting with team in an international context and their capacity to focus on improve the way to communicate efficently to present an idea or to contribute it to shape it.

  1. b) Formative assesments that will consist in the writen concepts of business ideas, presentations, development and implementations of their business ideas, events and pitches that the students have to provide during the study unit as it represesents their understanding of the topics;
  2. c) The usage of the basic project management competence and making the knowledge visible as well as on the final result and execution of the event/project. The actictude and level of participation for the training sessions and practical project work are part of the evaluation.

The kind of participation of the students to this module will have a 50% weight of the final mark

Qualification: 

At the end of the module, the student will receive the following qualification:

Award in Entrepreneurship and leadership (2 ECTS)

 

3 – Business English (2 ECTS, level 5 of the MQF and EQF Framework for Life Long Learning):  This Module aims at helping students to communicate effectively in English during their academic path, as well as at starting to prepare them for the professional contexts. It will help to expand English vocabulary, improve ability to write and speak in English, to better organise their presentation and improve their ability to interact in English.

Delivery of the module: it can be delivered 100% online or 100% Face to face

 

Learning Outcomes:

Competences:

  • Improve their communication and confidence when dealing with the public and their colleagues, participate in discussions and in any group projects or activities;
  • Make effective presentations for businesse contexts;
  • To use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

Knowledge:

  • Vocabulary and topics that will be used during the higher education so to be able to proper organize their studies, their presentation and to frame correctly project assignments and theses;
  • Vocabulary and topics used in various business contexts and social situations to help the students to improve communication skills used in the workplace, and needed for typical business communication such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, email writing, and a systematic approach.
  • The course will cover Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking knowledge.

Skills:

  • Write with an appropriate vocabulary in English in both professional and academic context.
  • active listening, understand, recognize and use language and techniques that will help to make effective presentations in English during exams and in class interaction;
  • Speak using the appropriate terminology in English in professional and public contexts, business emails, telephone conversations;
 
Assessment:

This module of study will be assesed by means of course assignements and preformances of the students during their lectures that will cover the declared comptences, knowledge and skills. Percentage marks will be allocated to specific tasks of the project and graded according to the assessment policy of GY Academy:

  • Grade 1 [85% or over]
  • Grade 2 [60 to 84%]
  • Grade 3 [45 to 64%]
  • Fail [0 to 44%]

In the case of a fail, students are offered the opportunity to re-sit/re-submit once the assessments of the module.

 
Qualification:

At the end of the module, the student will receive an Award in Business English

This award intends to introduce or strengthen students into skills that are critical for any kind of careers – as employees or self-employed –  and that are also very important while developing their path of studies. This award does not lead to a specific occupation but is aimed to provide a career perspective.

Who can Apply?

Freshers – young students prior entering their first undergraduate degree who are interested in exploring their passion, strengthen some critical skills and to be able to match them with their career perspectives that lay ahead of them. This program will address their strengths and hone them further, including languages, understanding of their weakness and set out to turn these into new opportunities.

Graduates – for those students who are currently studying for a bachelor’s degree or already have a previous degree and are looking to improve their skills and mindsets that will help them to make smart, conscious decisions on what to do next after graduating from their University, as well as to acquire or strengthen critical skills, including languages, in case of planning an international career.

 

Registration requirements

  • EQF/MQF Level 4 qualification (from 18 and above)
  • B1 English level

 

Teaching, Learning and Assessment Procedure

1. Teaching and Learning procedure

1.

This award is structured into three modules that will be delivered in a traditinal manner as it will provide students with the opportunity  to learn in an international environment allowing them to connect with, problem-solve, and network with other students from a wide range of backgrounds. Furthermore, the traditional learning will allow students to recive apart from the theoretical aspect of learning the guidance and emotional support of their coaches during their  hands on learning.

 

As teaching modalities, there will be a combiantion of frontal teaching with working groups, project based approach and reflective learning. The delivery of this modules requires the application of diversified teaching and learning approaches in order to effectively meet the required outcomes of the modules. This requires a combination of teacher facilated instruction, practical sessions and student self-study. In additional, experential learning will be utilised by the facilatator so that students gain an insight of practical real world experience. Practical sessions will also involve (not exclusively) the use of digitial tools and management tools.

 

1. Assessment procedure

 

Modules of study are assessed by means of working in class, projects, portfolios, written assignments and/or examinations.

Assessments are graded against a pre-set rubric which contains percentage marks.

On completion of all assessments for a specific module, students obtain the following grades on the basis of the percentage mark obtained:

  • Grade 1 [85% or over]
  • Grade 2  [60 to 84%]
  • Grade 3  [45 to 64%]
  • Fail [0 to 44%]

 

In the case of a fail, students are offered the opportunity to re-sit/re-submit once the assessments of the module.

On completion of all modules of study, all the percentage marks are weighted (based on the total ECTS value). The total sum obtained is then converted to a percentage performance. Overall programme performance is then graded in reflection of GY Academys IQA guidelines as follows:

  • Distinction [90% or over]
  • Merit [70 to 89%]
  • Pass [50 to 69%]
