Francesco Cappe


Francesco Cappe selected by the European Commission, in 2013, as one of the 40 “Erasmus Alumni inspiring careers”, has worked as a high-level professional in private and public entities within managerial and institutional functions. He is a former United Nations Official, having worked for 12 years as Head of Security policy, dialogue and innovation at UNICRI where for six years he was a member of the UN task force of the Secretary-general on counter-terrorism policies. He also worked as Senior Advisor for the General Confederation of the Italian Industries (Confindustria) and Chair of the Robert F. Kennedy Flagship on Mediterranean Challenges as well as Board member and CEO of international companies and Higher Education Institutions. He is co-founder and Chairman of the garagErasmus Foundation and a coach in team building and creative thinking.

Andra Pipernea

Head of Academic Development and Operations

Andra Pipernea received her Bachelor Degree in Law at the University of Babes Bolyai Cluj Napoca, Romania in 2009. She has a Master Degree in International Diplomacy from the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies of the University of Malta.
For some years Andra worked in law firms and other sectors both in Romania and Italy before moving permanently to Malta. In 2015, Andra underwent an internship period with the Malta-based Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean where she was assigned work related to Political and Security Related Cooperation. 
Andra is a Romanian national with a cross-culture of international experience. She is a native speaker of Romanian language, fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and Hungarian.

Dean Micallef

Financial Planing Advisor

Dean started his career as a financial auditor with Deloitte whilst studying to become a Chartered Certified Accountant through ACCA. Following his successful qualification as an accountant Dean moved into Financial & Business Advisory services as a Financial Advisory Consultant within the same firm’s Financial Advisory Team. Following 9 years with Deloitte, Dean took up the role as Group CFO of a Maltese diversified group comprising of 14 entities spanning various industries.

Today Dean is Managing Director at Firstbridge Services a Financial Advisory firm focused on transactions and supporting startups. He is mainly responsible for Corporate Strategy, Business Development and the firm’s “Basement to Boardroom” Start-up advisory programme.

Dean is a Certified Public Accountant, Fellow within the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Fellow within the Malta Institute of Accounts. He also sits on several company boards and holds a Master’s degree in Financial Services through the University of Malta.

Dean firmly believes in the importance of operating within a highly positive environment whilst using technology to one’s advantage to both enable and assist performance. He is confident that embracing teamwork and working to one’s strengths paves the way to success.

Strongly considering himself as a family man, Dean enjoys spending time with his wife and three wonderful children. When not working, he also makes time for sports, travelling and his passion for everything tech.
